We’re guest blogging  for Diane Padoven from Napa Farmhouse 1885! If you’re not familiar with her creative blog, her wonderful environmentally friendly products or her vision of living ” a green life of style”, we highly suggest you visit her on her blog and her beautiful store. Based in Napa Valley, California, Diane works with talented local artists to create products for the home that are made from “repurposed, reimagined, recycled and/or reused materials”. Both her work and vision makes Mother Earth a happier, healthier place.

As part of her Thanksgiving Memories series, Diane Padoven asked us to share our family Thanksgiving tradition story. In the White On Rice Couple household, there’s quite a few stories to tell but the most fun are the stories of how to incorporate a turkey into a meal that will satisfy the elders, who never grew up eating turkey.

I love turkey eggrolls! My boyf doesn’t eat red meat so a few years back I asked my mom to make turkey eggrolls and you don’t even miss the pork! :-) I even use ground turkey for my bitter melon soup. Too bad I can’t use turkey to make thit kho w/ eggs. :-/ haha.

Those rolls look fabulous! Does ground turkey in your part of the world smell strong? The other day I bought some and the smell scared me a bit. I had to balance it out with lots of sesame oil, spices, herbs and dark soy sauce to make some BBQ-style meat puffs.

it’s now 6:11pm in Sydney, I am suffering from mondayitis, i’m starving, just want to go home, looking at your blog just makes it worse. I have a massive craving for vietnamese spring rolls dipped in nuoc mam, definitely a great way to kick start the summer. Btw, we always have left over turkey over christmas, instead of the usual turkey sandwich for the week, i think i’ll be experimenting with the turkey rice paper roll =D
